So, this is the part where I tell you about myself: My name is Amy Thorpe. My dream is to make a career, writing inspiring children’s books with a heartfelt message.

Three years ago, I moved to a rural North Yorkshire village alone with my daughter who is the real-life Ophelia Rose. I treasure being able to cuddle up and read a lovely book at bedtime with Ophelia, and we both really enjoy stories that rhyme, have beautiful illustrations and a lovely message that would make us smile. This progressed to me making up my own little stories for Ophelia. I wholeheartedly believe that childhood should be a magical time for all children, and story books are a beautiful way for children to escape and experience magical worlds and expand their imagination. I really wanted to take this passion and make a beautiful book that hopefully somebody in this world would really enjoy. Living in the middle of nowhere, I had a waterfall behind my house, mushrooms, wildflowers and stunning scenery, and this is what inspired the beautiful fairy-tale illustrations. But alas, I am not artistic in the slightest, so I had to find somebody who could make my dreams a reality. I was incredibly lucky to stumble across Claire Westwood, who read my story and saw something special in ‘Only Ophelia Rose Knows’. Claire listened to my ideas for the illustrations and made what was in my head a beautiful reality with her incredible artistic talent.

My favourite things are family time with my daughter on various adventures, we recently returned from Greece where we explored Kefalonia on Quad bikes. I love cuddles, food, plants, nature, swimming, dancing like a lunatic around the house, and I am also an adrenaline junkie - so any activity that gets the heart rate up is always a winner with me.
